Approved bond issue paves way for street improvements

-A A +A
By Ian Neligh

Idaho Springs officials now must figure out a way to decide which streets will get improvements first after voters last week gave the city the green light to move forward on a bond issue.

Residents approved an $18 million bond to fix the city’s streets and make water and sewer improvements with 64 percent of the total 435 ballots cast. The city council will use the money to do the work and repay the loan with the 1 percent sales tax approved by voters in 2014 that was earmarked for road improvements.
