For the first time in school history, the Dusters are Frontier league champions in baseball.

The middle school squad capped off an incredible season with a 13-5 victory over Bennett on May 17 at Bennett Middle School.

Clear Creek finishes its season with a 10-1 record, 7-1 in league competition.

The Dusters jumped ahead early and often. Clear Creek tallied four runs in the first inning, two in the third inning and two in the fourth as it led 8-5 entering in the fifth inning.

Clear Creek busted loose in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to take a commanding 13-5 lead, which proved too much for Bennett to overcome.

With only three eighth — graders, the Dusters will have many returners for next season as it looks to repeat as league champions.

Clear Creek’s lone loss on the season came to the Academy in a 7-6 battle. The Dusters were able to get revenge in the opening round of the Frontier league playoffs, as it defeated the Academy 12-8.

“We had a successful season,” said Clear Creek head coach John Onago. “I believe it’s the first time we’ve won a Frontier league championship.”
