Happy Tails and Whiskers, a controversial pet grooming/boarding business in downtown Idaho Springs, on Feb. 13 was granted a conditional-use permit that will allow it to remain open.
The Idaho Springs city council approved the permit 4-2, with Mayor Jack Morgan and council member Mike Hillman dissenting.
Council member Kate Collier did not attend the meeting.
As a condition of the permit, the council is requiring business owner Debora Johnson to erect a fence to help muffle barking noise when the dogs are outside.
