Dwight L. Sullivan, 98, of Longmont, formerly of Idaho Springs, died May 7, 2011, at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont.
He was born March 18, 1913, in Beemer, Neb., to Edward A. and Lura (Purrington) Sullivan. In 1941 he relocated to Idaho Springs, where his drugstore also housed the local bus depot, also operated by Dwight, and he ran the concessions for the Berthoud Pass ski area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Vernie in 2004; and three brothers, and two sisters.
Dwight is survived by three children, Dwight Sullivan Jr. (Sheri) of Johnstown, Colo., Pattie Lura Austin (Chuck) of Longmont and Mark Sullivan (Deborah) of Longmont; one brother, Chester Sullivan of Bozeman, Mont.; 13 grandchildren, Patrick Beasley (Fonda), Dana Riss (Bill), Monica Austin, David Austin, Jay Beasley, Kelley Sullivan-McNelly (Mark), Luke Sullivan (Jessica), Amy Stephens-Wilson (Nathaniel), Linda Gallegos, Robert Oder, Erica Sullivan, Jared Sullivan and Jessica Sullivan; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 13, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 803 Third Ave. in Longmont. Interment at Ryssby Cemetery.
