Everett Eugene Prickett Sr.

Everett Eugene Prickett Sr. was born on Feb. 3, 1932, in Frankfort, Ind. He entered into rest on Dec. 30, 2011, in Lakewood. He was 79.
Everett was a Victor, Colo., resident for 10 years and an Idaho Springs resident for 42 years. He was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Everett was also a veteran of the Korean War. He was a hard rock miner, initially in the gold mines in Victor and at Cheyenne Mountain where NORAD is today. He spent many years as a miner in Clear Creek County at such places as Cabin Creek, the Henderson Mines and the Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel.
Everett started his own business, Prickett & Sons Boring and Tunneling, in the ’70s. Everett, along with Irene, was a long-haul truck driving team for many years. Everett became a private small-engine pilot in the’70s and enjoyed flying his family throughout Colorado and Wyoming. He was a Master Mason (Worshipful Master), and a lifetime member of the Elks and the VFW.
Everett loved every moment he could be fishing. Everett was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idaho Springs.
He was preceded in death by his son, Everett Prickett Jr. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene Prickett; daughter, Roberta Prickett; sons, Carl Prickett and Willie Prickett; sister, Priscilla Coomer; brother, Ray Prickett; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Idaho Springs. Hegmann Funeral Service conducted the cremation. Contributions may be made in Everett’s name to Mutual of Omaha.
