Fire ban declared in Arapaho, Roosevelt National Forests

-A A +A
By Ian Neligh

Despite several days of reasonably wet weather, officials are warning residents that fire danger as a result of the unusually warm spring remains high.

On April 12, the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests followed Clear Creek County in declaring a fire ban. Clear Creek commissioners on April 2 affirmed the decision to enact a ban that was made by the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office on March 30.

The ban came on the heels of the Lower North Fork Fire, which burned 4,100 acres south of Conifer, destroyed 25 homes and killed three people.
