Geologic survey work begins at Twin Tunnels

A geologic survey of the eastbound bore of the Idaho Springs Twin Tunnels on Interstate 70 is being conducted this week in anticipation of widening the eastbound bore in the spring.
The week-long survey will require closure of one lane until the morning of Feb. 17. The work was delayed from last week because of winter weather conditions.
Drivers should expect delays while nearing the eastbound tunnel. If traffic congestion gets too severe, the state transportation department is planning to open both lanes.
