Jean Marie Hyser, 56

Jean Marie Hyser of Alice was born on Oct. 31, 1955, in Wilmette, Ill., to Adolf and Alice Hediger. She entered into rest on May 11, 2012, at the age of 56 at her home in Alice, where she had been a resident for 28 years. She had lived in Golden for seven years prior to moving to Alice.


Jean grew up in Chicago, where she worked as a veterinary assistant, a job that she continued in Colorado. She enjoyed the outdoors and doing volunteer work for schools and churches. Jean taught CCD classes at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Idaho Springs. She was the secretary for the St. Mary’s POA from 1986 to 1998. Jean loved to travel and loved her pets.
Jean is survived by her husband, John, of 29 years; and her daughter Kaitlyn Hyser. She is also survived by brothers Gary and Robert Hediger of South Carolina, brother Dennis Hediger of Idaho Springs, brother Steve Hediger of Golden and sister Laurie Hagland of Dumont.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 19, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1632 Colorado Blvd. in Idaho Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Evans Hospice, 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439.
