Robert Charles Turner, 56, of Idaho Springs passed away Feb. 20, 2009.
Robert was born Feb. 21 1952, in Denison, Iowa, to Turner and Frances Kohles.
Robert grew up in Grand Junction and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1971, serving for three years. He was stationed in San Diego, Calif., before moving to Idaho Springs.
Robert was a member of the NRA, VFW, Elks Club and a car club. He loved to garden, mow, weed and all other types of yard work. He worked as head of housekeeping at the Gilpin Casino.
Robert is survived by his wife, Kaye “KoKo” MacFarlane Turner; two sons, Robert Orville Turner and stepson Ian Grant MacFarlane, both of Idaho Springs; his father, Jim Turner, of Dunlap, Iowa; sister Carol Thompson of Lakewood; and brother Jimmy Turner of Thornton.
Funeral Services will be held at Elks Lodge 607 at 1600 Colorado Blvd. in Idaho Springs on March 5 at 11 a.m.
A memorial fund has been set up at the Mutual of Omaha Bank in Idaho Springs for surviving wife and children Ian and Robert. Cards and flowers may be sent to the Turners at P.O. Box 1793, Idaho Springs, CO.
