    Devil's Gate History Club presents "Great American Eclipses: 1878 and 2017" by Greg Jarvis at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the Georgetown Community Center, 613 Sixth St. Learn how the total eclipse in Clear Creek County in 1878 put the town on astronomers' maps and drew attention to the area.

    Devil’s Gate History Club of Historic Georgetown Inc. presents “Mining the Upper Swan River, 1859 to 1900+” by Bill Fountain, on Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Georgetown Community Center at 613 6th St.  This event is free and open to the public.

    Devil’s Gate History Club of Historic Georgetown Inc. presents “History of the Easter Seals Camp at Rocky Mountain Village” by Tom Picton, on May 8, at 7 p.m. in the Genesee Room at the Easter Seals Camp on Alvarado Road. (Please note the change from the regular location.)  This event is free and open to the public.

    Aug. 30

    A reading carnival will be from 1 to 6 p.m. at the summer reading carnival at the John Tomay Memorial Library in Georgetown. Live bands, children’s performance, face painting, balloons, bounce houses and carnival games. Solterra will perform at 1 p.m., the Salida Circus will perform at 3 p.m. and the Jon Maez Band will perform at 4:30 p.m.

    Summer reading party at the pool. Lunch and swimming begins at 11 a.m. at the Clear Creek Rec Center. Swim from 11 a.m. to noon. Lunch at noon followed by a jumping and diving contest from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

    The Empire Americana Music Festival, which celebrates country, rock and folk music, will be at Minton Park ball field. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 the day of the festival, with children under 12 admitted free. There’s a $10 camping fee for those who want to stay overnight.
