    Feb. 1
    A broomball league will begin Feb. 1 and run through March 7. Games will be held Wednesday nights starting at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Georgetown ice sheet at Werlin Park. The cost is $60 per team. Helmets are required, and you must bring your own.For more information or to sign up a team, call Stacey at 303-567-4822.

    Jan. 19
    The Lions Club of Idaho Springs will host a presentation at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Buffalo Restaurant and Bar by Don Allan about the path of softball in our city. Don Allan is active with the Historical Society and is the current county coroner. Don was also a pitcher in fast-pitch softball.

    Geocache by Moonlight. Middle-school and high-school students: Grab your snowsuit and mittens as we venture out by moonlight to treasure hunt with our GPS devices. Meet at the Georgetown Library at 5 p.m. We will eat some grub, that continue on our journey to discover hidden treasures already planted among us. Then we will split into groups as we try to be the first to uncover the treasure (iTunes gift cards) hidden by a librarian.

    A charity basketball game between 6th graders and teachers supporting Loaves and Fishes will be held at the Georgetown Community School Gym at 2:45 p.m. Admission is $2 or a donation. Donations can include money, new personal items (razors, toilet paper, tooth brushes) and nonperishable items.

    Honoring the Empty Chair: Mt. Evans Home Health & Hospice is holding a free workshop called Honoring the Empty Chair from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 30, at its offices, 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen. Mt. Evans Bereavement Counselor Barb Lamperski will lead the meetings, which will feature discussions about coping strategies and support resources. Light refreshments will be served.
