  • Amelia ‘Tiny’ Munchiando


    Amelia “Tiny” Munchiando was born on July 2, 1918, in Freeland, Colo. She was the third in a family of seven children. She and her family came to Idaho Springs from the hills in 1922.
    She graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1936 and began her career at the local telephone office. She enjoyed a long tenure with the company, and when the office converted to dial in 1964, she transitioned to a Denver office working as an analytical clerk.

  • Patricia Marie Kureth, 81

    Patricia Marie Kureth died April 25, 2012, at the age of 81. She was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Tecumseh, Mich., to John and Cathrine Rozewalka.
    Patricia was a resident of Idaho Springs for 40 years.

  • Betty J. Sitzman

    Betty J. Sitzman passed away on April 18, 2012, at the Life Care Center of Evergreen. She had a home in Georgetown and had loved spending time there since 1946.
    She loved animals, especially cats, and was preceded in death by her beloved “Mr. Murphy.”
    She is survived by many friends; daughters Carol Eslinger and Karen Dean; grandsons Geoffrey and James Dean; and grandcat Chester Rose.
    Cremation occurred. A celebration of her life will take place in the fall.

  • Nancy ‘Nan, Nanners’ Ann Wood

    Nancy “Nan, Nanners” Ann Wood, 64, entered Heaven on April 10, 2012.
    She was born April 2, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

  • Jodie Lee Chandler

    Jodie Lee Chandler entered into rest on Jan. 25, 2012, in Lakewood at the age of 59. She was born on July 12, 1952, in Grenada, Miss.


    Jodie had been a Clear Creek County resident for 20 years, living in Idaho Springs for the past six years.
    Jodie is survived by her son Jason LeBouef, and her granddaughters Jami LeBouef and Zoe LeBouef.
    A memorial service will be held on March 3, 2012, at the Elks Lodge No. 607, 1600 Colorado Blvd., Idaho Springs, CO 80233. Service provided by Hegmann Funeral Service Inc.

  • Nellie Marie Bielz

    Nellie Marie Bielz of Dumont died Feb. 8, 2012, at her home.
    She was preceded in death by her son Wilfred Jr. She is survived by her husband, Wilfred Sr.; and daughters Anna Meldrum Velda Guy, and son Roger Bielz; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

  • Yvonne Mae Mackey

    Yvonne Mae Mackey of Georgetown, who was born in Mullen, Neb., on Sept. 10, 1931, passed away Jan. 17, 2012, at the Life Care Center in Evergreen.  
    Along with her son John and husband, Bob, Yvonne moved to Georgetown from Denver in 1972 and lived happily thereafter.
    She was a hard worker her whole life, most recently working for the Valero Corp. at its Georgetown store until she retired in 2010.  
    Yvonne was also a caregiver, giving her time and energy to countless people and causes throughout her time in Clear Creek County.  

  • Charles ‘Chuck’ Ivan Metz, 82

    Charles “Chuck” Ivan Metz, 82, of Evergreen died Jan. 30, 2012, at Exampla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge.
    Chuck was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Butler County, Mo.
    He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Carol Metz; brother Leonard Metz; sons Kirk Metz, Todd Metz and Bradley Metz; stepson Jerry Neal; grandchildren Rachel Metz, Tanner Metz, Dustin Metz and Kylee Metz; and great-grandchild Miley Metz.
    A memorial service will be held on May 5, 2012, in Evergreen, to celebrate Chuck’s life with family and friends.

  • Richard Gene Eckles

    Richard Gene Eckles was born April 12, 1930, to William and Mildred Eckles in Colorado Springs. He passed away Jan. 20, 2012, at the Life Care Center of Evergreen.

  • Sam Morreale

    Sam Morreale, native of Colorado and 13-year resident of Dumont, passed peacefully at his Denver home with his family at his side. Sam and his wife Cyndy were the creators and owners of Mangia! from 2004 to 2007, as well as Svago and Sam Whiskey’s Tavern, formerly located at the Indian Springs Hot Springs.
