  • Robert Paul Beede

    Robert Paul Beede, a longtime Idaho Springs resident, passed away on Sept. 24, 2011, in Benson, Ariz.

    He was born June 19, 1941, in Denver and was an Army veteran.

    He is survived by two sons, William and Steven, both of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Barbara Flowers of Denver and Sharri Smith of Sun Lake, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date.

  • Richard Kaufman

    Richard Kaufman, a longtime resident of Idaho Springs until 1997, has died.
    Kaufman was owner and operator of the Big Spruce Cabins for 17 years, and he loved this area. He was a member of the Elks Lodge since 1975.
    He was well known for his ballroom dancing skills. Born in Manhattan Borough, New York City, on Oct. 18, 1918, he danced through life. He had dance studios in New York City, Miami Beach and Chicago.
    His wife, the late Mildred “Dusty” Kaufman, was active in Idaho Springs with a special love for the garden club.

  • Gayle L. Johnson, 50

    Gayle L. Johnson, 50, finished a valiant race on Sept. 15, 2011, in Georgetown.
    Gayle began her life in Gary, Ind., in June of 1961 and devoted the majority of her work career to the Clear Creek Economic Development Corp., influencing the lives of numerous clients and friends.
    She enjoyed spending her leisure time outdoors, running, skiing, playing softball, gardening and traveling.

    Gayle L. Johnson, 50, finished a valiant race on Sept. 15, 2011, in Georgetown.

  • Edmund J. ‘Ned’ Koser, 82

    Edmund J. “Ned” Koser, 82, of Evergreen died peacefully at home Friday, Aug. 26, after a brief illness. He was raised in Ardmore, Pa., served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Valley Forge and attended the University of Maryland. In 1985, he retired from the U.S. Forest Service.
    He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen; son Karl; daughters Karen Padilla and Barbara Koser; and granddaughter Brittiana Padilla.

  • Elsie M. Rockwell

    Elsie M. Rockwell of Dumont entered into rest on Aug. 14, 2011, in her home at the age of 75. Born in Sharon Springs, Kan., in 1936, she lived in Georgetown, Empire, Kansas and Wyoming.
    She was a resident of Dumont from 1968 to 2011. Elsie graduated from high school in Wyoming. She worked for many years on the custodial/janitorial staff for Clear Creek schools.
    Her interests included reading, visiting with family and friends, and listening and dancing to music.

  • Claudia Lee Vieweg

    Claudia Lee Vieweg, 77, of Idaho Springs entered into rest on July 16, 2011, in Wheat Ridge. She was born on June 18, 1934, in Denver. Formerly of Wheat Ridge, she had resided in Idaho Springs for the last 33 years.
    Claudia was a compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

  • Francis J. ‘Frank’ Brady

    Francis J. “Frank” Brady, of Arvada died on July 14, 2011, at his residence.
    He was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Boulder. He graduated from Boulder High School in 1944. In 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served with the 20th Air Force on Guam.
     While in the service, he attended Washington University in St. Louis. Upon his return home from Guam, he served in the Colorado National Guard and attended the University of Colorado.  

  • Florene Snead, 85

    Florene Coursey was born outside of Lewisburg, Ky., on March 28, 1926, to parents Elmer and Ila Coursey (Brown). Flo graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1944, studied office practice at a business college in Nashville, Tenn., and later taught office practice at Lewisburg High School.

  • Tammy Michelle (DuPont) Gallegos-Onago

    Tammy Gallegos-Onago, 44, passed away in Venice, Fla., to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 21, 2011, following a brief, courageous battle with a metastatic cancer.
