  • William J. ‘Bill’ Menzies

    William J. “Bill” Menzies of Georgetown passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at a care facility in Oshkosh, Neb. He was 90.
    Mr. Menzies was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, and his daughter, Janice Diane. Mr. Menzies is survived by his children, Billie (Menzies) Pyzel of Albuquerque, N.M., Donya (Menzies) Hughes of Colorado Springs, Margaret (Menzies) House of Lewellen, Neb., and Robert Menzies of Georgetown. Mr. Menzies is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  • Janet Craig Swift McFarland

    Janet McFarland, 71, passed away peacefully in her home in Central City the morning of Good Friday, April 22, 2011.
    Janet was born in Springfield, Ill., on Oct. 20, 1939, and was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Parker Swift. Together they had three children, Bennett Kerry Swift, Kathleen Anne Swift and Jeffrey Bruce Swift.

  • M. Jeanne Postlethwait

    M. Jeanne Postlethwait, formerly of Albuquerque, passed away on April 7, 2011, in Denver.
    She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Sylvia Postlethwait of Highlands Ranch; three nieces and their spouses, Deanne and David Boland, Jennifer and Jonathan Orr, and Megan and Bryan Koepf, all from the Denver area, and a nephew and his wife, Stark Alan and Julie Beard, from the Atlanta area; and four great-nephews and two great-nieces.

  • Janet Craig Swift McFarland, 1939-2011

    Janet McFarland, 71, passed away peacefully in her home in Central City the morning of Good Friday, April 22, 2011.
    Janet was born in Springfield, Ill., on Oct. 20, 1939, and was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Parker Swift. Together they had three children, Bennett Kerry Swift, Kathleen Anne Swift and Jeffrey Bruce Swift.

  • Manual ‘Mike’ Wolf

    Manual “Mike” Wolf died in hospice at his home in Georgetown on March 30, 2011. He had been in ill health for several years. The cause of death was cited as congestive heart failure.
    Mike was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Anna and Morris Wolf on July 12, 1920. When he was 12, his family moved to Washington, D.C. He attended Washington schools, where he was an active participant in sports.

  • Douglas Dale Sawyer

    Douglas Dale Sawyer was born on Sept. 22, 1958, in Lansing, Mich. He entered into rest on March 21, 2011, in Denver.
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Dawn Cronk.
    He is survived by his father and stepmother, Dale Sawyer and Carolyn of Lansing, Mich., sisters Deborah Casner of Michigan and Diane Edwards of Florida, and brother John Cronk of Castle Rock.
    A service will be held at a later time at Alvarado Cemetery. Hegmann Funeral Service conducted the cremation.

  • Carl C. Tribble, 90

    Carl C. Tribble, 90, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Crane’s Mill, West Caldwell, N.J.  
    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, Cedar Grove, N.J.
    Born in Wetmore, Colo., Mr. Tribble lived in Idaho Springs until 2007. Mr. Tribble was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was employed by the U.S. Forest Service until his retirement.
    After his retirement, he spent many happy years with his beloved wife, Ann, hunting, fishing and horseback riding in the mountains around
    Idaho Springs.

  • John David Christy, 56

    John David Christy, 56, passed away on March 17, 2011. He was a well-loved brother and uncle, and will be missed very much by his family. John loved everything about the outdoors and enjoyed playing his guitar.

  • James W. ‘Bill’ Fitzgerald


    James W. “Bill” Fitzgerald, 84, a resident of Evergreen and a former longtime resident of Idaho Springs and Boulder, died at his residence surrounded by his immediate family members.
    Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2312 14th St. in Boulder, followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 10 a.m.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.  A reception will follow the service at the church.

  • Glenn Satterfield, 83


    Glenn Satterfield, 83, died Feb. 13, 2011, in Denver. Satterfield, a Colorado native, studied at St. Edwards Academy in Texas before serving two tours in the Marine Corps.
    He returned to Denver, where he started working at Richard Ives Machine Tools, eventually becoming president.
    He became part owner of the Argonaut French River Cruises based in Paris. He spent much time in Spain with his daughter and family.
    He is survived by his daughter, Renee, her husband, Peter Flade, and granddaughter Alexandra.
