Thanks for participating in yard sale
    Editor:
Just sending out a huge thank you to all the wonderful people who came and bought items at the Mill Creek Valley Historical Society yard sale last weekend. Some people added a donation and some joined the society. Others donated a lot of nice items for us to sell. Thanks also to those who donated time to help as well.

Proposed health service district doesn’t make sense

    Editor:

We voters in Clear Creek County have several important decisions to make as we cast our ballots this year. We not only elect national, state, county and municipal candidates, we vote on nine state measures (six constitutional amendments and three propositions) as well as several county initiatives.

    The Goat needs a home

    Editor:

“Wanted: New home for cute, adorable and cuddly Goat.”

KGoat radio may be losing its home. It may be demolished for the Colorado Boulevard redevelopment project to make a new park in front of the Visitor Center. I think that a new park is a good idea, but I believe that the historic log cabin could be moved feasibly.

I expect the city of Idaho Springs could make some land available, but Clear Creek County has more. There are other options as well.

1A will help Clear Creek residents

    get high-speed Internet

    Editor:

It’s yes on ballot question 1A. Let’s return the opportunity for local control to develop local broadband services to Clear Creek County.

This override of SB 152 would allow the county to explore options to attract new and upgraded services through a public-private partnership. Reliable, affordable and universal access to broadband is an infrastructure priority in the county.

     Those with depression issues

    should seek help

    Editor:

The death of Robin Williams has brought attention to the very serious nature of depression. It is difficult to comprehend how a person with millions of dollars, countless fans, and a string of successful  movies and shows was unable to beat this condition.

    Think carefully before creating
    affordable housing in Clear Creek
    Editor:
In the Aug. 5 article, “Developers eyeing affordable-housing projects,” there was a note of caution about not wanting to jump into such a development. This was entirely appropriate, since such housing is affordable to the occupants but can be quite expensive to the rest of the residents and taxpayers in the county.

School board needs to explain Lancaster’s ouster

    Editor:

Re: “Time for the school board to come clean,” the op-ed by Jerry Fabyanic on July 30.

The Clear Creek School District has had two overarching goals for at least 30 years:

    1) Provide the absolute best education to Clear Creek County students that we are capable of.

Kudos to Mary Jane, Annelise Loevlie

    Editor:

I suspect that most Clear Creek County residents saw the article in the June 13 Denver Post business section about Mary Jane and Annelise Loevlie both receiving the presidential “E” Award for managing nation-leading exporters. Mary Jane created and manages Shotcrete Technologies; Annelise is CEO and a founder of Icelantic Skis.
