Lift tickets don’t seem like an ethics violation

    Editor:

Re: Loveland lift tickets for county employees.

How many county employees are there? Seems that spread out over all the employees, it hardly has an average value of $50 per person. So it does not violate any ethics law. Just sayin’.

    A letter to Gov. Hickenlooper

    Dear Gov. Hickenlooper:

The business owners of Idaho Springs and the residents of Clear Creek County desperately need your help. The Colorado Department of Transportation has made grievous mistakes during the past two years regarding construction on Interstate 70 in Clear Creek County.

Give credit where credit is due

    Editor:

The article on the greenway in Clear Creek Canyon was excellent; however, you failed to acknowledge the real individuals who made this happen. The Clear Creek Open Space Commission initiated and implemented this plan.

    Thanks for help, donations to
    Carlson Choir’s performance fund-raiser
    Editor:
The Carlson Choir would like to extend a big thank-you to everyone who helped make our “It’s Pasta!” program a huge success. We raised more than $1,800 and are well on our way to competing for our next gold medal at Elitch’s in the spring!
First, a thank-you to the family members of the Carlson Choir students. Without you, we couldn’t have done it. We appreciate all of the time and help with costumes, transportation, extra rehearsal, etc.

     Those with depression issues

    should seek help

    Editor:

The death of Robin Williams has brought attention to the very serious nature of depression. It is difficult to comprehend how a person with millions of dollars, countless fans, and a string of successful  movies and shows was unable to beat this condition.

    Commemorative bench moved
    Editor:
Such a big to-do over a beautiful tribute to a man who worked and devoted himself to the city of Idaho Springs for almost 50 years: Paul Munchiando.
It seems that a simple bench, meant to honor this man and his love for the city, was a pox upon the patchy, weed-ridden yard of the public library, so much so that the entire board made it its goal to have it removed.

    Think carefully before creating
    affordable housing in Clear Creek
    Editor:
In the Aug. 5 article, “Developers eyeing affordable-housing projects,” there was a note of caution about not wanting to jump into such a development. This was entirely appropriate, since such housing is affordable to the occupants but can be quite expensive to the rest of the residents and taxpayers in the county.
