  • Bolduc, Andrades cap Clear Creek...

AURORA — It was somewhat a bittersweet moment for Rowan Bolduc, Xander and Sebby Andrade. For four years, the Clear Creek seniors have run side-by-side with each other. And, one last time, they were there again at Arapahoe County Fairgrounds on Oct. 29 as part of the 3A boys state cross country championships.

  • Host Lady Diggers served out at...

Home-court advantage was not Clear Creek’s friend.
The Lady Golddiggers, the host team for the 3A District 4 volleyball tournament and No. 2 seed out of the Frontier League, didn’t have an answer for Eaton in a 25-13, 25-9, 25-12 defeat on Oct. 29, ending Clear Creek’s season.
Clear Creek (15-7) went 1-2 in the four-team bracket. Only the top two teams — Eaton, which went 3-0, and Faith Christian, a winner in two of its three matches — advanced to this week’s regional play.

  • Diggers’ lead slips away in the...

LYONS — Connor Gunderson threw a first-quarter touchdown pass to Tevin Lucas, but Clear Creek couldn’t hold onto its first-half lead, falling 29-7 to host Lyons on Oct. 28.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak and kept the Golddiggers (2-7, 2-2 1A Metro North) from claiming a share of the conference title.
Lyons (8-1) overcame three turnovers by scoring 20 third-quarter points to take a 26-7 lead into the final 12 minutes.

  • Ducklow trades in Conifer for...

Chad Ducklow, Conifer’s varsity baseball coach for the past three seasons, has been hired as the head baseball coach at Clear Creek High School, school athletic director David Schuessler said.
Ducklow was 19-38 in three seasons at Conifer, including a trip to the 32-team 4A playoffs in 2010. He relaces Jeff Schuessler, who resigned after last season. Jeff Schuessler, the athletic director and girls basketball coach at Gilpin County High School, may end up as an assistant coach on Ducklow’s staff.

  • Diggers come up aces in service...

Taylor Broaddus wasn’t trying to loft her serve over. She wasn’t always picking her spots to get an ace. She was just hitting it harder to get more of a top spin.

  • Diggers struggle to hold onto...

LOVELAND — Taylor Dewald rushed for just 68 yards, but he scored three touchdowns as host Resurrection Christian sent Clear Creek to its seventh straight defeat dating back to last season with a 41-27 victory on Oct. 7 at Loveland Sports Park.
The Golddiggers trailed 41-0 at halftime before scoring 27 second-half points — 21 of which came in the fourth quarter. Alberto Delgado scored three touchdowns.
Clear Creek turned the ball over eight times — six times in the first half.

  • 5 Questions: How to fix the...

From the time Lyn Darrell took clear creek to 10 playoff appearances between 1982 and 1999 and today, the Golddiggers have been in a downward spiral. We spoke with current head coach Brian Inman and former coach Darrell on why this has happened and what it will take to get the team back on track:

1: WHY HAS THE TEAM STRUGGLED SINCE MAKING THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE LAST TIME IN 1999?

  • Diggers’ Bolduc leads the way

GRANBY — Clear Creek senior Rowan Bolduc ran a team-best time of 18 minutes, 25.1 seconds to place eighth at the nine-team Middle Park Invitational on Sept. 24.
Bolduc finished 1 minute, 21 seconds back of first-place finisher Adam Hartman of Horizon. Holy Family’s Sam Hillman was second in 17:43.1.

  • Late lead slips away from Diggers

HIGHLANDS RANCH — Alberto Delgado summed it up, though the words were painful ones.
“It’s a pretty hard loss. We could’ve taken this team. We just weren’t focused,” the Clear Creek senior said minutes after his Golddiggers watched a 10-point lead evaporate in the game’s final 8 minutes, 27 seconds on Sept. 24 in a 32-28 loss to Denver Christian at Highlands Ranch Stadium.
