City council seeking name ideas for hiking, bike park

-A A +A

Mountain bikers will likely refer to the park near Argo Mine as Area 28

By Ian Neligh

The Idaho Springs city council will likely look to the public for ideas to name the area that will eventually become a hiking and mountain biking park near the Argo Mine and Mill. However, mountain bikers say they will probably continue to call it Area 28 because that’s what it has been known as for more than 15 years.

Acting as a citizen, Police Chief Chris Malanka urged city officials to look for a name that paid respect to the area's history, rather than a Bureau of Land Management designation.
