Friends of Charle’s Place is hosting their semi-annual fall yard sale to raise funds to help support the Clear Creek/Gilpin Animal Shelter. The event will take place on Sept. 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Argentine Street in Georgetown. Sept. 24
The third annual MRWC Handgun and Shotgun Turkey Shooting event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Clear Creek County Sportsmen’s Club in Idaho Springs. The attendees must be at least 18 years old, and the cost is $25 per shooter. Guns, ammo and turkey targets will be provided. Please bring your own eye and ear protection. A Yard sale will be held on Sept. 24 at the United Church Gathering Place at 1422 Colorado from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sept. 27, 29 and Oct. 4, 6
A Hunter Education Class taught by the Colorado Division of Wildlife will be held in Evergreen on Sept. 27 and 29 and Oct. 4 and 6 at the Bergen Park Fire Station. Each night the class will go from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information, e-mail ty.petersburg@state.co.us

Oct. 2
The Great Pumpkin Fun Run and Fall Fest will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Idaho Springs Ball Fields. The 1-mile and 5K runs/walks will benefit Carlson Elementary School. Inflatable games, pumpkin patch and hay rides will be available.  Registration forms at schools, recreation centers and libraries. Sponsored by Carlson and Clear Creek Metro Rec District. Oct. 11
Colorado Poet Laureate David Mason journeys to Georgetown from 5 to 7 p.m Oct. 11. Mason, the seventh Colorado poet laureate, is co-director of the creative writing program at Colorado College. He plans to visit all 64 counties in Colorado during his four-year stint serving Colorado. As poet Laureate, Mason promotes an appreciation of poetry and fosters literacy within Colorado communities.

CHILDREN’S STORY TIME: Wednesdays at 11 a.m. at the John Tomay Memorial Library in Georgetown.
 Bring your toddlers and preschoolers to the library for preschool fun and stories. Preschool story time entails fun and socialization.

FRIDAY NIGHT BINGO is held at the Senior Center in Idaho Springs across from Tommyknockers (14th and Miner streets). $10 per player at the door, additional game cards $1 each. 
Doors open at 6 p.m.; games start at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit STI, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
THE AMERICAN LEGION will be meeting at the Idaho Spring’s Elks Club the last Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
