Entrance fee to Mount Evans dropped

Lawsuit settlement has Forest Service charging for use of three amenities

Visitors who traverse the area around Mount Evans won’t be charged a $10 fee unless they use three specific amenities.

A fee only will be charge for visitors in vehicles using the Dos Chappell Nature Center at Mount Goliath Natural Area, the summit viewing platform at Mount Evans and the developed parking lot at Summit Lake Park. Fees only will be required in those areas between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. 

In addition, pedestrians, bicyclists and equestrians won’t pay a $3 charge.
