Grievance committee created in wake of staff uprising; Wides out of job

By Ian Neligh

After a rift between the Georgetown Community School’s board and school staff erupted into public recriminations at the May 17 board meeting, the board on May 30 unanimously approved restructuring the charter school’s leadership and creating a grievance committee.
Effective in August, the school will be led by a principal and business manager, eliminating the vice principal position held by Rachel Wides, who has been openly critical of the board. Interim principal Karla Haas Moskowitz must re-apply for the principal position if she wants to keep it.
