Compromise on the price tag with the Sheriff’s Office led to a change of heart

By Ian Neligh

The Idaho Springs Police Department wants to continue using the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office for dispatch calls despite having to pay for the service after the two organizations reached a compromise on the amount the police department will pay.
The deal has Idaho Springs paying $150,000 per year for dispatch and 911 services rather than nearly $250,000. Police Chief Chris Malanka told the Idaho Springs City Council on June 5 that the city attorney is looking at a draft intergovernmental agreement between the two agencies.
