Springs looking to address growing short-term rental issue

-A A +A
By Corinne Westeman

As more short-term rentals pop up in Idaho Springs, city officials want to do something to address the growth to protect visitors, property owners and residents.

The Planning Commission and staff will present the city council with its recommendations at a Sept. 17 work session, and several council members have suggested that a moratorium should be put in place until new rules are set.

While the city now requires property owners to have business licenses to rent out their residences, officials have noted that not all of them are licensed.
