Fire crews quickly contained a blaze that broke out just west of Empire on June 4.
The cause of what is being called the Mad Creek Fire is currently under investigation, though officials believe a person started it.
Empire residents could see the smoke from town.
Kathleen Krebs, director of the county’s Office for Emergency Management, said the fire was contained to just under an acre.
The fire was on U.S. Forest Service land, and first responders were notified at about 10:23 a.m. The Clear Creek Fire Authority was first on the scene.
