July 1
First Friday Field Day is planned at the ballfield in Idaho Springs. Kite flying, relays, sports and games are on tap, with free event for kids and families. Sponsored by Clear Creek Public Health. For more information, call 303-679-2386. 

July 2

Clear Creek Rapid Grass music festival and yodeling contest will be held on the Idaho Springs baseball field from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The event is $10 for adults; children/seniors admitted free.

July 4
The annual People for Silver Plume Fourth of July Ice Cream Social will run from 2 to 4 p.m. July 4 at Dinger’s Park in Silver Plume. This is an annual fund-raiser for People for Silver Plume. Adults $5, kids $3.

The July 4th Parade and 5k race in Georgetown will feature barbecue at City Park, a parade, bucket brigade races and much more. The parade begins at 11 a.m.

THE Idaho Springs Fireworks Display will be over Bridal Veil Falls and the water wheel.

July 8
Sleepover in the Stacks starts at 6 p.m. Friday and runs until 8 a.m. Saturday at the Idaho Springs Library. Children can come for a night of summer fun away from home. Sign up and get details at the library.

July 10
A celebration of the life of William J. Menzies will be held at the Alvarado Cemetery north of Georgetown on July 10 at noon.

July 12
A Free Cooking/Nutrition Class will be held every Tuesday for six weeks from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Parish Hall in Idaho Springs. Child care available. Pre-registration is necessary before July 8. This event is sponsored by the Clear Creek Public Health Department. For information, call 303-679-2386.

July 27
Cooking with Summer Fruits and Vegetables is a free health drop-in program from 10 a.m. to noon at the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank in Idaho Springs. This event is sponsored by the Clear Creek Public Health Department. For information, call 303-679-2386.

CHILDREN’S STORY TIME: Wednesdays at 11 a.m. at the John Tomay Memorial Library in Georgetown.
 Bring your toddlers and preschoolers to the library for preschool fun and stories. Preschool story time entails fun and socialization.

FRIDAY NIGHT BINGO is held at the Senior Center in Idaho Springs across from Tommyknockers (14th and Miner streets). $10 per player at the door, additional game cards $1 each. 
Doors open at 6 p.m.; games start at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit STI, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

UNITED STRENGTH AL-ANON FAMILY group provides help, understanding and anonymity for friends and family of alcoholics and addicts. Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. Mondays at the white house at 1422 Colorado Blvd. in Idaho Springs next to the United Church.

FREE HEALTH ASSESSMENTS are offered to those 18 and older by Colorado Heart Healthy Solutions and Clear Creek Public Health. Cholesterol screenings, diabetes check, cardiac assessment, education, navigation, referrals and resources are offered from 8 to 11 a.m. every Monday or by appointment.
