Dec. 3

A computer maintenance and troubleshooting class will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at United Gathering Place, 1422 Colorado Blvd. All classes are free, although a suggested donation of $10 is requested. Dec. 4

A fund-raiser to benefit fire victims in Dumont will be an encore presentation by the Mill Creek Valley Players of the melodrama “White Gold —Going Downhill Fast” by Larrice M. Sell. The performance will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at The Dumont School House. A fee of $15 per person is requested, and additional donations are appreciated.

Dec. 5

Scott Beach, a well-known Scottish bagpiper, will perform holiday songs from 1 to 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at The Emporium and along Miner Street in Idaho Springs.

United Center events in Idaho Springs

• Dec. 5: The CowBoy Band and others will perform Christmas music at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, to benefit Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity. A donation is requested.

• Dec. 6: The Peak-to-Peak Chorale will perform a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. For more information, call 303-642-7491.

• Dec. 11: John Adams presents “ A Rocky Mountain Christmas” featuring music of John Denver at 7 p.m. Dec. 11. Tickets at $15 in advance or $18 at the door. Advance tickets are available on John Adams’ website, johnadamsmusic.com.

Dec. 5, 6, 12 & 13

Georgetown Christmas Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 5, 6, 12 and 13. There will be an outdoor European marketplace, holiday entertainment, horse-drawn wagon rides, appearances by St. Nicholas, high tea, train rides and a Santa Lucia children’s procession.

Dec. 9

Judging for the residents of Georgetown’s holiday decorating contest will be start at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9. There will first, second, third place and honorable mention winners from each ward in Georgetown. Judging will include best-decorated business in historic downtown, Gateway District in Georgetown and best bridge decorations. Judges will drive through neighborhoods after 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 9. Celebrate the holidays in Victorian Christmas style on Dec. 12 and 19 at Hamill House Museum. Enjoy wassail and toasts, traditional lighting of the Christmas tree, Yule log presentation, special entertainment, caroling with the Silver Plume Singers, open bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Surviving the Holidays program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Loaves and Fishes Learning Annex in Idaho Springs. Children’s Story Time at

John Tomay Memorial Library in Georgetown offers preschool play and stories with a language program that encourages pre-reading skills and social bonds at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, and children story and craft hour from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Clear Creek Rock House Teen Center offers Monday night Bible study at 6 p.m.; on Tuesdays, learn Spanish at 12:15 p.m.; Wednesday at 4 p.m. is a 12-step program; and Wednesday night has open mic at 6 p.m. On Thursdays at 4 p.m. learn Spanish; Friday night movies are at 6 p.m. The Rock House is open from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Free health assessments are offered to those 18 and older by Colorado Heart Healthy Solutions and Clear Creek Public Health. Cholesterol screenings, diabetes check, cardiac assessment, education, navigation, referrals and resources are offered from 9 a.m. to noon every Friday by appointment at the Community Resource Center in Idaho Springs. Friends of Beaver Brook Watershed, a nonprofit organization formed to ensure a quality environment and outdoor experience, seeks volunteer weekend rangers to hike and patrol the park during the hiking season. The organization also seeks volunteers to assist in weed management. Training is provided. Beaver Brook Watershed is a Clear Creek County Open Space Park with access from Highway 103.
