Former Loaves & Fishes director apologizes

Posted

Editor’s note: As part of restitution to the citizens of Clear Creek and Gilpin counties, former Loaves & Fishes director William C. Gregory was ordered to write this letter of apology.

To the citizens of Clear Creek and Gilpin counties:

For over four years it was my honor and privilege to serve as the administrative director of Loaves & Fishes, a food bank serving those in need of emergency food assistance in Clear Creek and Gilpin counties. During the last year of my employment, I forged checks totaling approximately $20,000 and used the funds from the organization for my personal use. I apologize to the clients of Loaves & Fishes, the board of directors and staff, the donors who so generously support the ministry and to the people of Clear Creek and Gilpin counties. My actions placed Loaves & Fishes at risk, and I deeply regret that I abused the trust that was placed in me by the board of directors.

A disposition was reached in Clear Creek District Court. I have pleaded guilty to forgery charges. I have completed the period of incarceration that was imposed and am in the process of making restitution to Loaves & Fishes and am completing the community service that was ordered.

My apology is offered with profound regret to anyone who was injured by my actions.

Sincerely,

William C. Gregory
