The Clear Creek club lacrosse team earned a split this past weekend against its visitors from Cheyenne East High School in Wyoming.
The Diggers' varsity squad blitzed their foes from the Cowboy State with a 10-1 victory on April 10 at Clear Creek High School.
Josh Ramirez played goalie for two scoreless quarters in the first half, then went into the field and scored his first goal of his career in the second half.
The Clear Creek middle school team got a few surprises in its game. Thinking they would face middle schoolers from Wyoming, Cheyenne East brought its junior varsity team instead, which is why Clear Creek's 5-4 loss probably feels a lot like a victory.
Luke Hawkins led Clear Creek with two goals, while seventh-grader Kerry Athie, who played goalie during the second half of the varsity game and the entire middle schooler game, was extremely strong in the cage for the Diggers.
