The Roundabout Transportation Bus in Clear Creek County has begun offering rides to Loveland Ski area.
The bus will offer low-cost rides Wednesdays through Fridays. It will pick up at the Idaho Springs Ride Stop, Georgetown Mountain Buzz and Silver Plume Green Solutions. The bus will drop off at Loveland Basin and Loveland Valley.
The first pickup of the day is at 7:30 a.m. in Idaho Springs, and the last bus leaves Loveland Valley at 4:25 p.m. The bus runs on five continuous loops during the day, so there are multiple opportunities to get picked up and dropped off throughout the day.
A roundtrip ride will cost $10 for adults, $5 for veterans, $7 for seniors and $5 for children.
Tim Moreland, the county's transit supervisor, said the new project is exciting for the county.
“We applied for a grant through CDOT specifically for expanding our RoundAbout route,” Moreland said.
The grant he’s referring to is part of the 2023 Clear Creek County RoundAbout Expansion Project, specifically CDOT’s 2022 Super Call, Federal Transit Administration-5311 for rural areas.
Moreland said the grant covered most of the expense to send the buses up to Loveland.
The bus ran its first route up to Loveland on Dec. 7. Moreland explained that many policies and procedures for the new route will be worked out as things progress.
“We do have a cancellation policy. If it snows too much, like a foot of snow, we would cancel the service for the day,” he warned.
More information about pickup times can be found on the county website. Drivers will be accepting cash only, in exact change.
